I really don’t know what I did before I discovered the Firefox extension that changed my life: Crash Recovery. I started using it after mplayer-plugin made Firefox on Ubuntu Hoary a bit, er, unstable. Shortly after installing it I discovered that it is far more useful than its intended use (you know, recovering from crashes and all).

The most important part of developing Firefox extensions is probably the development environment. I find it weird that this part is not covered properly in most tutorials and books. When I began developing extensions I was restarting Firefox after each change to the code. This took a lot of time of course but I did not know of any other way. I even posted a question about this on the MozillaZine forum but got no good suggestions.
